There have been reports that Paul Pogba plans to start training at Manchester United’s training ground in preparation for his return, but that was not the case.
Recently, Juventus announced on its website that “Juventus and Pogba will terminate their contracts under mutual agreement as of Nov. 30, 2024. We wish Pogba the best for his future in his professional career.”
Pogba is a former Manchester United youth player. He left Manchester United in 2012 and joined Juventus for the first time. He scored 34 goals in 178 matches under Antonio Conte, and steadily lifted up Scudetto. Manchester United offered Pogba another opportunity, who rose to stardom by experiencing UEFA Champions League stages. Pogba headed for Manchester United with 89 million pounds, the highest transfer fee ever for the club.
He returned after a four-year hiatus, but his initial sparkle failed to meet expectations. In the end, Manchester United released Pogba on a free agent and returned to Juventus in the last 2022-23 season. However, things did not change much. He was away for a long time when he was injured again at the beginning of the season. It wasn’t until the winter that he made his debut after returning, but he only played 10 games due to repeated injuries.
Shocking news broke last season. Shortly after the opening, Pogba tested positive for doping. Juventus officially announced in September that Pogba has been ordered to suspend his qualifications by the National Anti-Doping Court following the doping test results conducted on August 20. Pogba has been banned for four years. Pogba has prepared an appeal by directly refuting his doping allegations.
A year has passed. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (비아마켓) found that Pogba’s disciplinary period has been shortened. His mistake confirmed that he was taking a drug that increases testosterone, a banned substance. Pogba’s suspension period has been reduced to 18 months, and he will be able to return to the club in March next year. As a result, Juventus is preparing to terminate its contract with him, and Pogba is drawing attention from various clubs including Premier League club, Ligue 1, MLS and Saudi Arabia.
In this situation, there were reports that Pogba was preparing to return from Manchester United’s training ground.
Citing transfer market expert Sasha Tivoliieri’s report on the 17th (Korea Standard Time), British media “Bissaker” said, “Pogba is expected to officially end his contract with Juventus and start training at Manchester United’s training ground to return in March next year. He is expected to train at Manchester United’s Carrington Training Center from January 2025 until he finds a new club.”
However, it was not true. European soccer expert Fabrizio Romano countered on his SNS, “Despite reports, Pogba is not training at Manchester United’s Carring Teng training site. During the past 24 hours, there were reports that Pogba was preparing to return from Manchester United’s training site, but officials denied everything. Pogba is training every day in Miami, Florida to move to a new club. He has no plans to train for any club, and he is waiting for a new team. He will immediately join the new club to train from January 2025, and prepare to start playing from March 2025. There is no contact with Manchester United, or conversation.”
