The Bears of San Francisco are a registered 501c3 non-profit organization serving the San Francisco Bay Area Bear Community. In gay culture, a Bear is a large, hairy man who has a very rugged, masculine look. Bears are one of many LGBTQ communities with events, codes, and a culture-specific identity.

Started in 1994, the Bears of San Francisco organize fundraising activities to raise money for charity. They have contributed over $500,000 to a number of charities at the local, state and national level. BOSF is located in our lovely city of San Francisco, and currently has about 280 members in more than a dozen states and countries.

"The Bears of San Francisco is an all-inclusive community-based association that benefits the greater Bay Area through fundraising, service, and socializing." — BOSF Mission Statement

The Bears of San Francisco are not only raising a substantial amount of money for charity, but all their fundraising events are fun, creative and a great opportunity to meet fellow Bears! Some of these events include:

Bear Coffee — Every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month @ Café Flore

It's a great place to grab a cup of joe (or Joe) and have a nice, quiet conversation with your fellow Bear friends. Café Flore also has a full bar and a menu if you're in the mood for a bite to eat, too. Enjoy the San Francisco summer on their outdoor patio with some Bear friends!

Bear Beer Busts

Hot bears, cubs and otters get together for an afternoon of fun, fur, food and more. There are shots, raffle prizes and a few surprises!
