Make way for Slider Bar, San Francisco — the way you eat your all-American burgers and fries has just changed. Freshly opened in the Castro District (October 2012), this burger joint is SF-foodie friendly, vegetarian friendly and very carnivore friendly (and friendly to those who like a good drink with dinner!).
This place serves 17 different kinds of sliders — all with a unique kick. Come in and try the American Pride, which has your good ol’ grass-fed beef and salty strips of bacon; or the 3 Alarm, which is pretty self explanatory, especially with the warning on the menu, “Order at your own risk, can possibly ignite your tongue!”
For our vegetarian or vegan friends, they have the Magic Mushroom, packed with balsamic Portobello mushrooms, Swiss cheese and arugula; or the El Capo, with delicious focaccia bread stacked with mozzarella cheese, and sundried tomatoes. Not only do you have your pick from all these mouth-watering mini burgers, but they also have a plethora of seasoned fries and flavored sauces!

The goal of Slider Bar is to change the way America enjoys comfort food. Founded through the slow food and craft beer movements, Slider Bar’s owners aim to serve affordable meals that are “good for the stomach, good for the soul and good for the mind.” Slider Bar uses quality local ingredients, and carries exclusive barrel-poured craft beers, fine wines, specialty cocktails and lemonades.
Not only do I love this place, but the folks on Yelp have great things to say about it as well. Mackenzie B. from San Francisco said, “The menu is organized very well, list of sliders, and price for one, two, three, all the way to six! I appreciate the variety of burgers as well, beef, lamb, chicken, veggie, even a caprese ‘slider,’ all with interesting toppings. I liked how they came to the table, all on one plate like oysters or a cheese course, with the waiter explaining which ones were which. Fun, and more importantly, very tasty.” Gypsy D. from San Francisco gave it all five stars and said, “Love going to that place! The environment is totally chill and fun. The staff is super great too!”
So next time you need something good for your stomach, soul and mind, head over to Slider Bar in the Castro!
