A hidden gem on 18th Avenue in the Castro District, Takara Sushi is a great place to go to dinner with friends (or a hot date). Soft electronic music plays in the background as you’re comforted by the relaxing décor. The restaurant is small, but it has a very cozy feel.
Takara Sushi has everything from hot and cold appetizers to soups and salads to make sure you eat enough before you start your meal. They offer a very large variety of sushi rolls, nigiri or sashimi made from the freshest of fish and prepared for you by their expert chef. The chef can also make you their house specialties, like shrimp tempura Banzai or their Crispy Cannon (deep fried California roll!). And with all that great sushi, you need great sake. Takara Sushi has a huge selection of delicious sake — hot, cold and fruity!
If you’re not a sushi fan, they offer a delicious selection of hot entrees — like udon noodles or chicken teriyaki — that are sans fish. If you’re a vegetarian, they also have a great selection of veggie rolls (my favorite, the asparagus roll!).
The other great thing about Takara Sushi is that they have the option for takeout or delivery (for those nights where you want nothing more than to sit on your couch, watch Breaking Bad and stuff your face with sushi!). You can order online at http://takarasushitogo.com. The online ordering process is easy — you can have fresh sushi delivered to you in less than an hour. Plus delivery is free with $30+ orders!
Next time you’re craving some buttery salmon nigiri and a sake bomb, head over to Takara Sushi in the Castro!
