Midnight Sun is a favorite among locals and visitors, and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a stiff drink while watching the most recent episode of Desperate Housewives. Besides featuring your favorite TV shows (including The Simpsons and Queer as Folk), you can enjoy funny TV clips and music videos!
Just recently in June, with the aid of Craige Walters (who also recently designed Fable), Midnight Sun had itself a little makeover. With the new expanded bar and ADA-compliant restrooms in the back (the restrooms used to be in the front of the bar), the front wall is now opened up to the street. Back in the day, most gay bars didn’t have windows on the street for customer privacy and to avoid police raids. The Midnight Sun was the last vestige of that in the neighborhood — but now it is exposed to all! As it should be.
Midnight Sun has delicious cocktails like the Sugarbaker, with Jeremiah Sweet Tea, Absolut peach and strawberry puree, and the Honey Mahogany, with Jack Daniel’s Honey Manhattan served up with a cherry.
The bar also has weekly events such as Mahogany Mondays on, of course, Mondays, and Dads and Lads on Fridays. (Like their Facebook page for updates! Click here: https://www.facebook.com/midnightsunsf)
So next time you need a spot to watch the Emmy’s or the latest episode of the Bachelor (we know how expensive cable can get!), head on over to the Midnight Sun to get your trashy TV fix while enjoying a Mommie Dearest martini!
