Bryan Roberts Salon and Color Bar is a full-service boutique salon in the Castro District that offers a complete range of hair, color, skin, makeup and body services using top-of-the-line Aveda beauty products.
Bryan Roberts Salon wants to bring out the best in you and make you feel like you’re at the top of your game. Their highly specialized customer service is designed to make sure your experience — and look — is personalized and exactly how you want it. They have a before and after “celebrity wall” and they even do drag makeup!
Bryan Roberts Salon is an Aveda concept store — which means they exclusively use and sell Aveda beauty products. Aveda products are high quality, sustainable and very gentle on your skin and hair.
Bryan McKay, founder and master men’s stylist at Bryan Roberts, has been creating beautiful hair for 20 years‚ and is a master at both coloring and cutting. Before he opened the salon in June 2011, he rented one of 2 chairs in the same building for 10 years. “The rent was great — then I thought, let's take this risk and open a salon,” said Bryan.
Bryan’s passion is not only to do great hair, but to create a positive statement about one’s personality through his designs. "I'm at the chair 3-4 times a week. It's one of my loves. I really enjoy doing it," he said.
Bryan also brings his other loves into his salon. His dog Cosmo (who knows some pretty great tricks) joins him at the salon every day he’s there. His husband Robert is the “Roberts” in Bryan Roberts Salon and takes care of the business side of things. “He's the business type. The go-getter,” he said.
Not only do they do a great job in the salon (and use environmentally-friendly products), but they aim to make the world (and San Francisco) a better place. They participate in events like Castro Clean-Up by Dolores Park Works, AIDS/LifeCycle, and help glam up the kids at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
They’ve also participated in a charity event held at Ruby Skye called the Trashion Show. Aveda salons raise money and create fashions out of recycled materials — then strut their stuff on the catwalk. Last year, the team at Bryan Roberts made a long, elegant gown out of Coca Cola cans, and they won Best Trashion out of the three categories: Best Trashion, Best Hair/Makeup, and Best Overall.
The year the salon hopes to raise $3,000 (by donation or purchase of candles) to help pay for clean water in the bay area.
